Your Feature Cart Orientation
Your store is built, you received an email from me with
"getting started" instructions. Let's begin!
 |
Welcome to the "FEATURE CART"!
In your email, I have provided the link, and your
username and password. When you click the link you will
find a log-in page that looks similar to this. Log in
now and let's start the orientation. Print a copy of
your username/password and instructions before you get
started.It is easy to get
overwhelmed at this point, it took a lot to get here! I will break this down into easy steps. Just take
your time, and ask for help if you need it. |
|
|
|
You are not only a store owner and
business manager, now you will learn to become your own
webmaster! Most people go on to college to learn this,
but you are going to self-teach on one page of
instructions, so please don't be hard on yourself, don't
get overwhelmed, give yourself time and patience, and
realize that managing an online store is a huge
accomplishment. It will be like owning your own home.
You will always have room for improvement, there is
steady upkeep and maintenance. BUT, the pride of
ownership and the opportunity for success is all
yours... |

Your Feature
Cart Home Page: This is what the home page of the
feature cart looks like. You will notice the links on
the left hand column. This is how you will be adding
your content and setting up your new store content. Let's go
through them and explain what they are, and how you will
use them.
When you click on a link, it will have a drop down menu,
with extra links. Get familiar with the link placement,
learn this inside out! |

| You can
disregard the "collections",
"wish & gift registry", and
"recipe program". These are
special add-ons which have to be
ordered. If you haven't ordered
them you won't have to set them
up. If you want to allow someone
access to your "feature cart",
you can setup a different
username and password for them
under the security link. You
will see that I am in there
already, make sure you delete me
when I am done checking your
site over. |

Follow these steps to complete your e-store setup.
Step 1
Make an organized plan of your categories and
the products that you will be adding to each
category. It helps to put your plan on paper.
The categories will show up on the left hand side
link (but not until after you add products to them).
Make your list of categories, then add them to
your site by following these simple steps:
http://1-800ehelp.com/featurecart/help/walkthroughStep9.asp
*TIP Keep
the category names as short and simple as
possible. Long category names can be visually
distracting, and may cause your website to
resize (scroll sideways to accommodate)
Step 2
Upload your pictures. Make sure they are
high quality, clear photos that have been
optimized for the web. To upload follow these
steps:
http://1-800ehelp.com/featurecart/help/fileUtilitiesButtons.asp
*TIP
Photo Optimizer. Browse, upload, then right
click and save. This step is very important, if
you don't do this, your site may load slowly.
If you need photo work done, I will be happy to
help. I can optimize, remove backgrounds, add a
border, frame or drop shadows, make photo
displays or anything you need to make them look
more professional. (approx quote is $5 per
photo) But if you are interested, please contact me
for a real quote.
Step 3
Add your products next. Go to products and
"add product". Add your descriptions, options,
prices and save.
For this step, there are many options and many
ways to do it. If you need several product
options, or if this step overwhelms you, then you may want to consider contacting a
setup specialist to help you get started. I
recommended Jill, at
Ready Set Shoppe.
FAQ NOTE: If you have the
"our specials" (featured product) item in the side navigation
bar, you can manage that when you add or edit a
product. You will find the option under "Feature
This Item", You will have two different options
to feature on the home page (in the middle
section), or if you select just "feature" your
product will show in the left hand side under
the our specials button.
*TIP Don't
forget to add shipping information (units and
weight) in your product descriptions set up.
This is how the store will automatically
calculate your shipping charges.
Step 4
Set up your payment options. Accepting
PayPal payments instantly, is as easy as adding
your PayPal address.
http://1-800ehelp.com/featurecart/help/Mode1Payments.asp
*TIP
PayPal even allows customers to pay with a
credit card.
Step 5
Set up your shipping options. Many options to
choose from. You can either register directly
with USPS, UPS, DHL etc...or you can setup basic
shipping rates.
http://1-800ehelp.com/featurecart/help/Mode1Shipping.asp
Step 6
Insert your contact info and your about us page
information.
Go to configuration and use the master store
mode panel.
Also you may add as many extra information pages as you
will need, under
content management.
FAQ NOTES:
- On the
contact page form, click "update" in the red
box to save your changes.
- On the
"about us" page, each window works as a
paragraph, it will accept regular text. IF
you want to format it, it can also accept
html
- Content
Management/content pages/add anew page
*TIP Pages
have built in html editors that function much
like Microsoft Word. You can format your text
and upload photos.
Step 7
Create your main splash page (inner contents)
Use the "you create it splash", it
has a built in html editor! If you would like to
change the layout of your splash page, go to
configuration/master
settings and choose from the available options.
Step 8
Configuration/master store mode/add meta
tags. Make sure you add your stores metatags.
These are important to optimize your site for
search engine ranking. Also manually submit your
site to the major search engines, following
these links will give you a head start, but
there are many more:
*TIP
Use popular "search" keywords for your metatags!
If you need an SEO (search engine optimize)
expert, contact me, I can give you a referral.
This is a highly specialized field...not cheap
either.
Step 9
Place a test order, if it works, you are ready
to sell!!!
Don't forget to check the history button daily,
that is where your orders will go! |
|
Step 10 |
Setup your
email:
Some extra email
info, the email is confusing,
but easy.
There are 2 emails Merak and Ice
Warp.
Merak email is the email
manager, that is where you set
up extra accounts, they are
called alias accounts. (the
manager)
IceWarp is where you read
your mail (its just an email
reader like outlook express)
(the reader)
Merak
http://mail.inkprince.com:32000/accounts
{mail
setup}
(make sure you insert your own
domain name, where the red "inkprince"
is)
IceWarp
http://mail.inkprince.com:32000/mail
{mail
reader}
(make sure you insert your own
domain name, where the red "inkprince"
is)
If you set up a new email alias
at Merak, like "info"
You will have a new and separate
Icewarp account to sign in to:
Email Username: info@inkprince.com

|
|
If you have
completed the steps above, you are ready to open
your store! Contact me, and I will check
everything over for you.
